Remember igniting your divine spark is about staying grounded, being divinely humanly focused, taking responsibility for your unique process, and having some downright delightful fun. But we all fall off the red wagon occasionally and so here’s a few (of many) indications I’ve come up with that might help you recognize if you’re getting a little too woohoo… who?
If you’re scared something or someone is gonna take your bliss or freedom away.
-
If you think you have usurped your throne in the after life if you don’t meditate, journey, align your charkas, eat raw food, bathe with crystals, visualize world peace etc.
-
If your spiritual teacher tells you you are the latest reincarnation of a very powerful spiritual master who does not need to learn anything new, and you believe him.
-
If you are able to love the world deeply in your meditations, but spaz out when someone cuts you off in traffic.
-
If you think your path is the only path
-
If you feel threatened by other’s spiritual truths, experiences and self-expressions
-
If you take advice from all your disincarnate guides and angels but never from your friends or family.
-
If you fail to create, dream, imagine, play, laugh
-
If you take everything at face value
-
If you need to be right
-
If you need concrete proof before you trust
-
If you think it is all up to you
-
If you trust someone else (this includes spirits and angels) before you trust yourself
-
If you only trust in something old rather than something new
-
If you lose touch with this reality.
-
If you see earth as less than heaven
-
If you grow uncompassionate towards humanity
-
If you smile at everything and cry at nothing (or vice versa).
-
If you believe being spiritual somehow frees you from life’s obligations and integral participations: like paying the bills, returning phone messages, eating healthy food and getting adequate exercise, rest, and play, being around others who you deem “unspiritual”.
-
If you stop laughing
-
If you stop having amazing orgasms
-
If you turn purple with green spots
-
If you forget to stop and smell the roses
-
If you let something or someone outside of you author your experience.
-
If you believe you are less than divine.
-
If you think there is a right way and a wrong way.
-
If you think you have to be perfect
-
If you think you have to be something different than what you are
-
If you think there is an end to your spiritual process
The list is endless and always evolving. As always, add to it, subtract from it, paint it, cut it up, roll around in it. And laugh at it. And create your own list. As serious as some of the warnings that I offer may read, remember there is always one trying to grab your spiritual armpit for a very un-serious tickle. As always, take what feels right to you, disregard the rest until it is time to shift again.
